Battling Badgers Edged Out

On Saturday 18 November 2023, Beacon Badgers were narrowly defeated 2-1 at Wolverhampton & Tettenhall (WaTs), going behind in the final quarter after leading until the last third.

Not a bad result with only eight players! To be precise, our hosts kindly lent us 2 different players in each quarter, which made for an exciting, even match.

We created numerous chances and dominated for long spells, so were unlucky not to get anything more from the game.

Our goal was scored by Alfie in the first half ⚽️.

Player of the match was Harshaan🏅 for his driving runs, trickery on the ball and solid hitting, which helped put the home team on the back foot.

Zac was similarly influential in midfield, Jacob and Ben worked hard and contributed to our creativity from the wings, and Drew diligently marked and tracked back from the left when he joined the midfield, after a very quiet first half in goal. At the back, Veeran and Jovan gave us stability and some great through passing to our front players.

Our players were complemented by the hosts for their discipline and sportsmanship, so congratulations to the team 👏🏻 And they all put in a hard shift - you can see from the team photos at the end!

The next Badger Conference match is on Sunday 26th November against Bloxwich at Aston Uni Recreation Centre.
