Goals Aplenty for Juniors at Sutton

On 29 January 2023, Beacon HC entered U10 and U12 teams in a Mini Festival hosted by Sutton Coldfield HC at Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School. 

In the U10 event, BeaconA team netted a hatful of goals, while Alfie and Connor also played for a BeaconB side that included Barford and Lichfield players and was equally prolific, finishing second overall.

For BeaconA, Alfie, Jonah and Jacob grabbed 3 goals each and drove forward at every opportunity, ably supported by Jack on the wing. Alfie 💥 top-scored on the day though, as he also struck for BeaconB. Drew bossed his goal area and kicked away a succession of certain goals 🥅, while Connor made an excellent contribution to BeaconB’s winning campaign. Jonathan reinforced our midfield with strong running and Gracie distributed the ball well from the back. 

In the U12 event, helped by Barford players Kara and Chayden, we finished third in a very tight group, despite beating the tournament winners Sutton and finishing level on points with them and group runners-up Lichfield 🤔 (separated only by goal difference!). But two wins out of three isn’t bad 💪

James got all three of our goals ⚽️⚽️⚽️, including two slap-shots smashed high into the opponents’ net. Ethan and Luke worked so well together in defence, with good communication and calmness in the first two games especially. Arun was awesome in midfield and Aamir worked hard pressing up the field on the left. There were lots of chances from Chayden and great positioning, pick ups and calls from Kara.

Beacon A: 0-1 Lichfield; 4-1 Bloxwich (Jonah 2 Alfie Jacob); 1-2 Sutton A (Alfie); 4-0 Sutton B (Jacob 2 Jonah Alfie)

Beacon B: sorry don’t have their results, but Alfie also scored for B team!

U12 Results:

1-0 Sutton (James); 1-3 Lichfield (James); 1-0 WATs (James)
