Five-Star Forwards and Goal-Hungry Keepers

On Sunday 5 March 2023, Beacon HC participated in a junior hockey tournament hosted in Aldersley by Wolverhampton & Tettenhall HC.

We entered mixed U10 and U12 teams with help from Stafford and Barford Tigers clubs, as well as an U14 Girls team and U14 and U16 Boys teams.

There were too many great performances to mention them all, but…

• U12 keeper Logan scored in the opening game as an outfielder and later made a series of outstanding saves against WATs ⭐️
• U14 Matthew netted 5 goals as the Boys team avoided defeat ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️
• U14s Manveer, SamWS and Tristan all stepped up an age group to help out in the U16s, who were unbeaten 💪
• Harveer (U16) and Charlie (U14) took turns in goal for Barford U16s who were short in that position 🥅
• Molly had an excellent game in defence for the girls, showing brilliant ball control and outletting to keep the opposition attackers at bay 👏🏻

We are also grateful for the support of the volunteers, players and parents who made it such an enjoyable day.

It was encouraging to see Stafford HC and Newport HC enter players in the event for the first time. We look forward to seeing more clubs join this South Staffordshire junior tournament circuit.

• U14 Girls: 0-2 Bloxwich, 0-3 WATs. Event finished early as overran!
• U16 Boys: 4-0 Barford, 0-0 Bloxwich, 0-0 WATs. Goals: Tom 2, AlfieP 2
