Badgers Put Skills Into Practice

On Sunday 5 November, Beacon HC hosted a 7-a-side tournament for Badger (U12-U16) players.

The home team faced some tough opponents including county and U16 players, losing to Cannock and two Wolverhampton&Tettenhall (WaTs) teams, after securing victory over Bloxwich. We were seconds away from another win in our last game, before two late goals turned the tide in a tightly contested game against WaTs A.

We also had plenty of chances and scored four goals ⚽️, through Veeran, Harshaan and Sam (2). The pick of the bunch was the last one, scored by Sam, who evaded 3 defenders before unleashing a reverse rocket low into the net. Only some wayward finishing stopped us increasing our goal tally.

In goal, Logan was again in fine form and kept us in contention on numerous occasions, especially with some vital diving stick saves when the opposition looked certain to score.

Well done also to the rest of the team for helping us to score goals and win points today, including Jonah and Alex in defence, Jovan and Jacob in midfield, and also U11s Drew and Alfie who gained valuable experience facing players up to 5 years older. It was great to see some individuals applying the techniques they've learned in training and getting more confident and skilful on the ball.

Much appreciation to Amy for umpiring and co-managing the team, Rob and Rich for taking the photos, and Kerry and everyone else who helped to tidy up at the end πŸ™Œ

Results + scorers:

  • 1-0 Bloxwich Veeran
  • 1-4 WaTs 1 Sam
  • 0-6 Cannock
  • 2-3 WaTs A Harshaan, Sam
