On Sat 12 January, Beacon Badgers faced their toughest test yet this season with a home game against Cannock HC, eventually losing 7-2.
With several of our regular midfielders having moved up to senior hockey or unavailable, we nevertheless fielded a strong central midfield unit of JakeP, ShahmeerK and DanC in defensive midfield, as well as having experienced players in key positions upfront and in central defence.
However, we faced intense pressure from the off against a seasoned Cannock lineup which itself featured several talented county players.
In defence, Ben, Ethan, Elsie, Gracie and Charles had their work cut out fending off the incursions and Logan pulled off several acrobat saves to keep the visitors at bay, but they had too much quality for us on this occasion.
Nevertheless we managed to break forward ourselves, helped by Alfie and Jayan up the wings, and Jonah alongside our scorers JacobF and JamesR.
Well done to ElsieA for making her Badgers debut in such a tough game 👏
