Beacon Juniors Brave the Elements

On 26 January, Beacon HC hosted a "mini festival" tournament for local U10 and U12 teams at Aston University Recreation Centre in Walsall.

The weather was very cold, blustery and rainy 🌨️, particularly during the U12 event, but all the teams battled through with great determination and perseverance and got to put their hockey skills into action 💪

Our U10s won 2 and drew 2 of their 6 games, scoring 5 and conceding 7. Ethan top-scored with 3 goals, while Clarice and Matthew also got on the scoresheet. Congratulations to Poppy for making her Beacon debut 👏

Our U12s drew 3 and lost 1 of their 4 games in worsening weather conditions, netting 3 goals and conceding 5 in a slightly shortened tournament. The scorers' names got lost in the stormy weather, but if we find them we'll print them here!

Big thanks to everyone who supported the event, including the visiting teams and their helpers, all the players and their parents - who helped set up and took photos.

And an especially big thanks to our volunteers who helped share out the workload, including Dave, Mark, Oliver, Helen, Akarl and Jas who umpired, Linnie and Stu who managed the teams, and Matt who helped to transport equipment.
