On Sunday 23 August, Beacon HC entered the Staffordshire Under-8 In2Hockey competition hosted in Lichfield HC.
It was a big 4-a-side event, with 16 teams competing and 8 matches to play, with some high-standard hockey on show.
Our Hockey Heroes won 1 and drew 3 of their 8 games, scoring 5 goals ⚽️ through Zayden (4) and Jamie (1).
👏 Well done also to the rest of the team - Cayden, Hayden and especially Valerie and George 🏅 who were making their team debuts - and to the parents who cheered them on.
Shout out too to the volunteers at Lichfield HC for their excellent organisation.
The tournament was won by Barford Tigers, who beat WaTs in the final play-off.
The In2Hockey competitions also has regional and national rounds for the U10 and U12 age groups, but this U8 event was just a one-off tournament with no progression for the 2 winning teams. Many counties don’t run an Under-8 competition, but Staffordshire is an exception.
