Our U14 Girls showed great effort and resilience in the 7-a-side Midland League Tier3 event at Bishop Vesey’s school on Sunday 19 February, playing twice against hosts Sutton Coldfield HC and once against Bloxwich HC.
No points today but we gave three battling performances, even taking the lead against Bloxwich despite being a player short 💪
Everyone worked really hard right from the back, with Lexi stopping shots left, right and centre, a succession of vital interceptions and tackles from Aimee and Libby in defence, Ellie and Hemali attacking up the wings, Katie creating space and opportunities in midfield, and Willow causing problems for the opposition defenders up front.
Well done in particular to Katie for getting our goal, with a rocket low into the far corner, Ellie for driving hard upfield and putting teams on the back foot, U12 player Hemali for holding her own against older players, and Aimee for playing while ill with a cold.
Today's tournament gave us some good experience and we will continue to work on: moving the ball quicker, outletting from defence and reacting better to turnovers.
